Why I Love the Desert in the Winter

...FLOWERS! They're beautiful and at night, the petunias smell so wonderful. They soak up the sun's heat during the day which allows their sweet scent to be released when the sun goes down.

My neighbor has geraniums that she's grown for 3 years. At the end of each season, she takes them home to Washington where they bloom all summer, then she brings them back to the desert where they bloom all winter! They're gorgeous!

Then there's this little fellow who rode around with me all day Thursday as I ran errands. I can't believe he didn't blow off the truck or fly away! He was still on the truck Friday morning. I guess he can be considered a locust; he was about 2 inches long as a brilliantly green as he is in the picture!
