Home again, home again...

It's been a little over a week since we've been home and, boy, have we had the gamut of weather! We thought the last of the snow we would see for the winter was in the Siskiyou's, but just a few days after we pulled into the ranch this is what greeted us:

That wasn't the end, either! Just this past Sunday we had almost 3 inches of the white stuff! Neither storms lasted long & the snow melted very quickly.

The deer have been back in full force. Gimpy, Baby, Spot and two other bucks have been meandering through. They all look fairly healthy, although I think I should have wormed them this fall/winter. The girls look to have a little Black-tailed deer hair loss syndrome. They'll be getting their summer fur in shortly, and be looking sleek and beautiful again.

Lee & I cooked for Micah & Megan's wedding reception this past Saturday & everything turned out wonderfully! We made pork loin roast with mango salsa, London broil that had been marinated in a lemon sauce, sweet and sour meatballs and cold, poached Steelhead with a sour cream dill sauce. Everything was ready on time and done at the same time! It was a rainy, slightly windy day on Alki Point, but with our canopy, we stayed relatively dry, until it was time to disassemble our "kitchen". Then, we got drenched! A small sacrifice.

On St. Patrick's Day we had a corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and Irish soda bread dinner along with the requisite green beer! Dennis, Vanessa & Wyatt came as did Pam & Brian and Shannon, Eric, Finnley & Scout. We also celebrated the little girls birthdays with presents, "Hello, Kitty" cake pops and cake balls. It was a fun evening & the kids had fun being pulled around the kitchen in a cardboard box.

Now that spring is arriving, hopefully the weather will start to warm up so I can get out & start working in the yard. My day lilies, daffodils and iris' have started to sprout and I have one lone violet that has a blossom; I hope the violet spreads! The herbs are starting to green up as well & I think I'm going to have many, many chive plants this year!
