"I Went to the Animal Fair..."

Lee & I went to the Woodland Park Zoo yesterday to check out the animals. Parking was a "bear", but we finally found a free spot out on the street about 200 feet from the entrance! What a score!

We were a bit disappointed in the displays. There wasn't a lot of room to view the animals. I know zoo's are trying to make the exhibits more "realistic", but the spots where you could take a peak at the animals were quite often obscured by plants. Not in the exhibits themselves, but along side the viewing areas. We love the San Diego Zoo, maybe we've just been spoiled by it. Anyway, here are some pictures:

A few weeks ago we had a little family of Oregon Junco's nesting in one of the pine trees next to the garage. I kept watching them flying amongst the branches, so I figured they were building a nest & sure enough, they were! One day Lee walked next to the tree & heard a lot of chirping, so I peeked in and got a look at the little nestlings. They were pretty doggone cute, but Mom & Dad didn't appreciate my checking in on them...They put up quite a racket as I snapped these pictures!

Since these pictures were taken, our little family has fledged!
