Wow! Time really flies! I can hardly believe that it's been a year since I started blogging! Looking back, it's been a lot of fun and a bit sorrowful. Better than a diary.
Recently we went camping with Dannie & Margie, Vanessa, Dennis & Wyatt and Shannon, Eric, Finn & Scout. What a blast we had! We went down to Potlatch State Park on Hood Canal. It was so much fun playing with the kids & spending time with the adults. Everyone took turns cooking and needless to say, no one went hungry. Our friends are fantastic chefs! The weather was perfect for playing in the Canal and wandering around on the beach. It was the week-end of the Shelton Forest Festival so we went into town to watch the loggers put on a show.

Baby has been showing off her new babies! We've named the twins Deb & Diane, after Kurt's twin sisters. They may have to be re-named if they turn out to be boys! They are the sweetest little things! Baby keeps them in various spots on the property during the day while she grazes. It's so cute to see their little heads pop up when they hear us coming!
On a somber note, our old doe, Gimpy died last week. I observed her when I was mowing & found it strange that she didn't move from her position under the garden shed. When I was done mowing, I went to check on her & she let me get withing a foot of her. She was in labor & it was obvious she'd been that way for sometime - she was so tired. Lee & I tried to deliver the stillborn fawn without success. We tried for hours getting information from a couple veterinarians & my brother-in-law, who raises cattle. We left her for the night, hoping that, somehow, she might be able to give birth on her own. She was still alive early the following morning, but later when Lee checked on her, she'd died. We buried her wrapped in an old quilt in a spot that was one of her favorite places to lay & chew her cud. We'll certainly miss that old gal! Lee always wished that he could pet her - he got his wish, but we wish the outcome of her plight had been better...
